And here we are - this is
what the trail looks like for the next 14 miles or so, until you get down on the
river.
The upper part of the California
Loop follows an old flume trail, so it relatively level,
with the exception
of a few up and
down diversions. Nearly all of it has a drop off on the left hand side - down a
steep,
many hundred foot, embankment. It isn't straight down, but it might as well
be.
