The official Ride turned through a gate at the bottom of this hill and went up that dark canyon
you can make out on the left.

We, on the other hand, had to drop down to the right, go through the cow pasture,
across the soggy mud to the gate at the end, then follow the road for half a mile or so,
before crossing over and picking up the rest of the pink loop.
