Toye (right) with juniors (L to R) Amanda Hott, Elena Macia,
and Katie Davis. The ride itself didn't go well, when two of the mares
here (ridden by Elena and Katie) tied up in the first 10 miles. Although
it was a sad finish to a busy few weeks, a great deal was learnt from this
series of events and I'm sure they went away wiser for it. |

with Tango. Because of sponsoring the juniors, they were caused to pull at
Squaw High Camp, when the Elena's horse tied up. Sally said later that she
felt fairly confident that Tango would have finished the ride and she
greatly enjoyed riding him. |

pad. Tio had been bitten by Becky's stallion a week or so before the ride,
and had a sore on his back (at a non-pressure point), so Becky opted to
use this pad as a safety measure. As I understand it, the stuff the pad is
made out of, was developed for bed-ridden patients to aid in the
prevention of bed sores. It was favoured by some who used it during the
XP2001 (2000 mile ride in 39 days). |
