Bald

The
"new" house at Lacey's (during the summer, this is really the
only house we can see clearly - aww). |
Bald
Mountain again, on Sunday. |

Bald
Mountain, Tuesday 21st. This is actually less smokey than first thing this
morning - at least I can actually see the mountain. I'm guessing this smoke is from the fire down by San Andreas. |

- our new commute/play car. This car was supposed to be a new 4x4 truck,
but we decided that blowing all our money on the vehicle we drive 5% of
the time was a bad idea... as was commuting 130 miles a day in a 30 year
old Fiat. So Savannah was chosen. |

being used for what she was intended (when not commuting). We went up Bald
Mountain on Sunday to try and spot our house. Fat chance. You can see a
lot of things from Bald Mountain (4600'), but our house wasn't one of them
- mostly because of the trees up there. We were wondering about asking the
Forestry Service if we could arrange to go up on the lookout tower (there
was a lady there that day, looking out, but she didn't invite us up...
probably thought we were weirdos). When the sun sets, we can see it
reflecting off the lookout tower windows. |

coming down Bald Mountain. |

These
two guys are regular visitors right now (although the one in the
background is much timider and keeps his distance). They come and graze on
the lawn most afternoons, and then amble on down, jump the orchard fence,
and guzzle the fruit off the trees. |

playing chicken with the chickens. She's trying to act casual and not look
nervous. In reality, as soon as they come anywhere near her, she
runs.
I watched Sardine the rooster "seeing off" the deer the other
day. Deer was grazing on the lawn. Sardine rushes up and goes "Ta-te-dAAA"
and the deer ran. <grin> |
