Joshua Tree - May 2003 / IMG_5869 Patrick and Lucy
After Indian Cove, we went into
town for refreshments (to make me less spacey)
and then looped back into the park to Hidden Valley.
Hidden Valley was originally a
closed-off valley with no entrance - ringed with high,
steep rock walls. Inevitably, along came a rancher who climbed up to peer
through
at the valley beyond and saw an area with its own mini-ecosystem. So he
blasted a
hole at one end and let his cattle in to graze. <sigh>
