As such, I took lots of detailed photographs, so he wouldn't feel like he was left out, but in the event, I liked it so much, I made him hike the half mile in when he reappeared.

What you see here is a concrete dam built in about 1930 by some local ranchers. The resulting lake attracts lots of bird.

So there I was, all excited at the prospect of seeing a whole lake of water... and what did I see? Nothing. Not a speck of water in sight.
