Seeing as Provo gave himself a gimpy leg, we
had to shut him up in the shelter (aka 12' x 12' stall) for a few days of
“enforced rest” (otherwise he gallops about in the mud). Which left
poor Mouse out in the pouring rain, so we erected her a roof of her very
own (we were due to add this extra roof anyway, but not quite in this
configuration... and we planned to do it when the mud had dried out,
rather than while two foot deep in slop, and we planned to do it while it
*wasn't* raining). |
Provo
in his 12 x 12 stall in the back. The panel behind Mouse's butt used to be
an open side, so we closed that off, shut the gate on the opposite wall,
and added the extra 6' of roof to the end. |
I'm
not convinced that her ladyship has actually moved from her nest since we
put it up 24 hours ago. So it was all definitely worthwhile. |
Having
the extra roof means that the drainage is now much better and the rain
doesn't drip off the end that they walk in and out of. Everything is
dryer.

Nativity
scenes eat your heart out.
Attractive slop in the foreground (never mentioned in the original
nativity scene).
Provo's “stall” has a tarp strapped across the back wall, to keep
the worst of the rain out. Unfortunately the worst of the rain actually
comes from the opposite direction. Mouse's rubbermaid tub is situated
halfway along the panel, instead of stuck neatly in the corner - where it
would fill up with rain. |
