On the map, I spotted
"Coronado National Memorial" which we knew nothing about, so
we turned off to visit. The sun was setting and it was freezing.
It turns out, it is a mountain pass set
aside to celebrate Mr Coronado, a spanish chap,
who came past here following the San Pedro river long before Colombus
"discovered"
America. Coronado and his friends were looking for
Cibola - a gold-clad town. What
they found were natives living in mud huts, which was a bit of a
disappointment.
