Jim still looking between Abiad's ears. As we descended, he asked where Michigan Bluff was
on the other side... since I was also staring fixedly through Fausto's ears, I couldn't tell him.

At Kaput Springs, Nick and I watered our horses, before moving out the way for Jim and Sue.
Nick wisely noted yellow jackets in the soggy spot next to the spring, so we moved about 20' down trail
to wait for the other two. While we were standing there, we saw a fat rattlesnake on the bank next to us.

Apparently the area right around Kaput Springs was significantly widened last year, after
several horses slipped off the trail there after stepping back from the spring. One was rescued
from there with a helicopter early last year. "Wide" is a relative term, I've learnt.
