Riders are shown in the order they came along
the trail.
Please let me know if you can identify any of these anonymous riders (so much for my cunning plan of being able to read the butt numbers off the horses in the photos) |

Mike Mocilan on Challenger (#140)
(Update: finished at 05:07) Taking the riders' numbers at the exit to the check. We parked one of the pickups at a slant to make the exit space narrower, to prevent the horses going out "en masse" - this was to make it easier to get their numbers accurately. |

Joyce Mocilan on Louis Lafite (#139)
(Update: finished at 05:07) |

Making a tally. Volunteer Lucky Johnson counting rider numbers.
Volunteer Kerri Nyborg cross checking the other number list.
Tevsweep rider (Squaw to Robinson Flat) Rho Jacoby with Rusty Nail
Tevsweep rider (Squaw to Robinson Flat) Brenda McClellan and Ria
Rho Jacoby with Rusty Nail
Rusty Nail getting bored waiting and wanting to helpfully scratch his head on Rho's back... Rho was not amused.
Brenda McClellan and Ria
Wynne Brown - AERC reporter for Endurance News - it'll be her
writings and photos that you'll be seeing in the near future.
Wynne spent the morning alternately hiking down from Watson's Monument and taking photos of the riders as they were coming up. |
|
Brenda McClellan and Ria trying to raise the previous leg's Tevsweep unit on the radio
Marc Van Zuuk's excellent dog - Bell (?). When I arrived
the previous night, I saw this dog and thought "Huh, labs aren't so
bad looking".
It turns out that this dog is ¼ german shorthair pointer - my present #1 favoured dog breed for "when I get to get my own dog". Both of Marc's dogs were very well behaved (although they spent the busiest time safely shut in the back of Marc's truck). |

Irene Murphy-Menefee (#248)
(Update: pulled) |
|
Hendrik Smeding (#24) on Shahgelaad
(Update: Pulled (Voluntary) Pacific Slab Mine) |
|
Shahgelaad getting his electrolytes.
Shahgelaad considering whether electrolytes are so
bad.
Volunteers Dave Geske and Gary in the background. |
|
Tail-end riders, Diane Lindholm and Rocket's Traveling Man,
and trail companions, Rondal Wilkins and Dusty (both
from Riverside, CA).
These horses were missouri foxtrotters (Update: Pulled (Late to Cutoff) Robinson Flat) |
